Kaikoura July 18-19

July 18th

Our first day in Kaikoura! Probably my favorite destination of the trip so far it was beautiful and sunny the whole time with milder temperatures so I was never overly warm nor overly cold. The mountains were on one side of us with the ocean on the other completing the scenery that couldn't remind me less of home if it tried.
This particular day we walked along the beaches, took a look at the shellfish making their home on the rocks close to shore, and took a boat out on the ocean where we got a very up close look at a giant sperm whale. I wasn't able to get pictures of the whale unfortunately as I was busy being awfully seasick and rather than take the camera and go get pictures and video Chris decided to stay next to me and hold my hair and hand me napkins while I was sick and otherwise shield me from the view of other passengers so I wasn't feeling embarrassed by my sickness.

July 19th

Our last day in Kaikoura we spent the whole day at the beaches enjoying the sunshine and I had a chocolate and coconut ice cream cone which was an unusual flavor but I wasn't unhappy by my choice. At 4pm our bus left for Christchurch so all in all it was a quiet day spent outside.

 The pebble beach
The sunrise outside the bedroom window
The front drive of our beach front villa
 The mountains above the clouds
